Ethiopia, recognized as the birthplace of coffee, is the starting point of the Lugat Ethiopia Yirgacheffe whole bean coffee, French roaster passionate about exceptional coffees. Certified organic, this whole bean coffee is grown without chemicals or fertilizers, guaranteeing healthy consumption that respects the environment.
This single origin coffee, from Yirgacheffe in the Gedeo zone, embodies the excellence of Ethiopian terroir. Its Heirloom variety, a unique arabica, is grown between 1800 and 2000 meters, within the Takele Mammo Denbi cooperative. Thanks to optimal conditions, the coffee plants produce perfectly ripe cherries, offering beans of exceptional density, rich in aromas.
This exceptional coffee benefited from the traditional Ethiopian washed process, an essential step to remove the mucilage from the beans. Production of this Ethiopian coffee bean
This washed coffee comes from the Konga washing station, located in the Yirgacheffe district, and belongs to Takele Mammo.
Former General Manager of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) for 12 years, Takele led the third largest coffee cooperative in Ethiopia. He collaborates with local producers who supply cherries to several washing stations, allowing him to offer a wide range of coffees to roasters worldwide. Takele also owns an office and a dry mill in Addis Ababa.
The Konga washing station is located at an altitude of 1,900 meters, in the heart of Yirgacheffe, one of the eight woredas of the Gedeo highlands. Located just a few kilometers south of the town of Yirgacheffe, this region is surrounded by preserved primary forests, offering an ecosystem rich in biodiversity. Yirgacheffe is world-renowned for producing coffees of exceptional quality, thanks to its unique terroir and its traditional farming methods.
