With the Picopresso, Wacaco reinvented the portable coffee machine by using afairly wide portafilter, while offering a machine that fits in one hand! The goal? To produce a nomadic coffee machine capable of making adouble intense espresso with beautiful crema. No need to sacrifice coffee quality away from home!
Despite its10.5 cm height and weight of350 g, the Wacaco Picopresso delivers an intense experience thanks to itsdouble filter(52 mm), designed to hold18 g of coffee, ideal for a double espresso at wake-up or a midday boost!
And for coffee "geeks," Wacaco gives you the option to perform abottomlessextraction. You choose between a standard extraction with a spout or switching to the bottomless filter.
With a non-pressurized filter, you'll of course need agrind suited for espresso: uniform and fine. Mastering espresso will therefore be necessary: finding the right grind, tamping well, managing extraction...
Inside the portafilter, you'll find afolding dosing spoon. The reservoir contains asmall cleaning brush anda tool for even distribution of the grounds.
Thetamper with its stainless-steel baseand thedosing ringin aluminum are stored inside the reservoir.
The trick will be learning to pack everything away after use, so keep the instructions handy until you master the technique!
Thepump is an innovative piston system, manually operated. It reaches between9 bars and 18 bars of pressure (9 bars being the international standard for espresso extraction). The system retracts so the Picopresso can fit into its case.
Thereservoir can hold up to80 mlof water. The Picopresso nomadic coffee machine isbuilt to last and travel, with solid materials (mainly aluminum and BPA-free components).
The Wacaco Picopresso requires hot water (if you're hiking, pack your hot water in agood insulated container), 16 to 18 g of ground coffee (very fine and uniform).
Follow the instructions (or watch the brand's video below), prepare your ground coffee in the filter, tamp, screw the filled filter under the Picopresso, add hot water on top and close the lid to avoid burns, pump 8 times and wait 8 to 10 seconds for pre-infusion, finish pumping to extract your double espresso.
It is recommended topump with two handsfor a good result and to preheat the machine by running a cycle empty (without coffee).
For maintenance, simply rinse the parts (filter and diffusion shower) under clear water. Wipe with a cloth and let everything air-dry.
Get an insulated container that will keep your water hot for the desired period.
For adventurers who want to grind their whole-bean coffee on the spot, remember to bring a manual espresso grinder.
