This lot contains 500 sticks of 5 g of sugar from organic farming and labeled Fairtrade.
Paraguay is one of the main producers of organic sugar. Sugarcane is grown by small producers
(between 2 and 3 hectares). The supply chain is then structured around sugar industries that process their harvest. In the end, the producers have little leverage to negotiate.
However, a cooperative, Manduvira, which brings together 1500 producers and farm workers, has succeeded in establishing itself in the supply chain. It has its sugar manufactured by a local factory and exports it directly. Recently, the producers have decided to build their own sugarcane processing factory.
This project is possible thanks to the support of fair trade, which you are participating in today by purchasing this product.
