This double aluminum tamper from Ascaso is the essential tool for tamping in a 57 mm or 58 mm filter. The coffee tamper ensures straight and uniform tamping, necessary for proper extraction.
TABLE /TABLEThis Tamper (translate " compressor " or " coffee tamper " into proper French) flat from the brand ' Ascaso ' features a double diameter of 57 mm on one side and 58 mm on the other.
Even if the fineness and consistency of the grind is the fundamental parameter for making a good espresso, tamping the grind remains of paramount importance.
For the grind to be distributed evenly, the tamper is essential for performing the operation.
We can say that tamping is successful when there are no more cracks in the grind (cracks through which water would pass too quickly (this phenomenon is called channeling in English)).
