The bean-to-cup coffee machine is one of the oldest models on the market of automatic machines. Historically, it was called the Intuita. It offers a somewhat outdated look and its imposing size requires a bit of space in your kitchen. However, if you are looking for the perfect espresso, you will love the Gaggia Naviglio. Its steam wand will also allow you to indulge in gourmet drinks on occasion. We tested the machine, find our detailed review below. Gaggia Naviglio Espresso Grinder: Ease of Use
The Gaggia Naviglio Black HD8750/11 was designed and manufactured in Italy. It is a bean-to-cup coffee machinevery easy to use. All compartments aredirectly accessible: bean hopper, water tank, grounds container… To make your life easier! Its black ABS design looks dated and its size is quite bulky, so you need to plan for space on your countertop.

Its sound comfort is rather average.Note:this Gaggia espresso grinder does not have a seal around the bean lid and does not have a ground coffee chute.
Features of the Gaggia Naviglio Black Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine
This Gaggia bean-to-cup coffee machine allows you to choose between 2 coffee drinks:espresso and lungo. You canadjust the cup length on 2 levels and the coffee strength(amount of ground coffee) on3 levels. Itsceramic grinderis adjustable on5 levels. The advantage of the ceramic grinder is that it does not overheat the grind, however, the grinding noise is higher-pitched.
The Gaggia Naviglio has a spout that dispenseshot water, perfect for preparing tea or herbal teas. The hot water also allows you to make an Americano (espresso lengthened with hot water) if you are looking for a long coffee. Itsassisted steam wandallows you to manually create milk foam to satisfy your cappuccino cravings.
The perfect espresso with the Gaggia Naviglio
Although the Gaggia bean-to-cup coffee machine lacks some options, it undoubtedly hasthe best coffee extraction in the range of machines under €400 according to our expert tests. Thesettings are quite limited for coffee strength and grinder, you cannot adjust the water temperature; however, theresult in the cup is incredible. The extraction temperature may be slightly higher than expected (88°C at the spout) but not enough to degrade the aromas of your coffee beans. The machine grinds the right amount for a balanced espresso. Moreover, thepre-infusion (moistening of the puck before complete extraction) is perfectly calibrated to bring out all the tasting notes of your coffee.
Also, the steam wand on this coffee machine has an air intake hole that makes it easier to use. With a bit of practice, you'll be able to make excellent creamy and fine milk foams to prepare your best cappuccinos or latte macchiatos.
Maintaining your Gaggia Naviglio bean-to-cup coffee machine
To ensure the longevity of your appliance and always achieve perfect extraction, maintaining the coffee machine is essential. Here are the steps to follow:
- Filtration : the filter cartridge will remove limescale particles and also purify the taste of the water so as not to alter the aromas of your coffee.
- Descaling : despite using a filter cartridge, it is important to descale when the machine prompts you to, in order to remove limescale deposits from the heating system and the spouts.
- Cleaning the milk system : the steam wand can be removed for cleaning after use. You can even put it in the dishwasher.
- Cleaning the coffee brew group : cleaning the brew group under lukewarm water once a week removes coffee grounds and coffee oils.
- Cleaning the drip trays : the collection trays (for grounds and rinsing) should be cleaned once a week, you can place them in the dishwasher.

The expert's opinion
Who is this machine for? If the look of your machine is important to you and you have limited space, the Gaggia Naviglio will not suit you. On the other hand, if you are an espresso enthusiast looking for controlled extraction and design is not a priority, we highly recommend it.
I am really a fan of its in-cup result whether for espresso or milk foam. However, if you plan to make milk-based drinks regularly, I recommend choosing a bean-to-cup machine equipped with a One Touch system. I would really like Gaggia to refresh the Naviglio's design to optimize its size and bring real modernity as well as a more robust body.
