The Hario Coffee Siphon is a vacuum coffee maker (same system as the Cona coffee maker) that comes straight from Japan.

Easily prepare coffee with an exceptional taste
The siphon, with its red flame and rising steam, adds a theatrical touch to coffee preparation, enticing customers looking for a culinary and visual experience. In addition to the real visual spectacle of the vacuum extraction process, this system provides a very fragrant coffee, of great finesse. The Hario siphons are of very high quality. They are designed AND manufactured in Japan.
Unlike drainers (found on the Cona ), the Hario filter is made of fabric. The result is a better filtered coffee with a very nice fluidity in the mouth, free of sediment.
The cylindrical infusion chamber optimizes the contact surface between the ground coffee and water, allowing for more rigorous control of extraction. HARIO siphons are recognized worldwide and are used by the greatest champions.

How to use the vacuum method with the Hario Technica?
Heat the desired amount of water just before boiling point (90-95°C) and pour into the lower container.
- Add the ground coffee (14-20g) to the upper container.
- Replace the upper container, making sure the seal is tight.
- Place the burner under the coffee maker.
- When the water starts to rise, briefly mix to saturate the ground coffee.
- When all the water is in the upper container, reduce the flame a little and mix again.
- After 60 to 90 seconds of infusion, remove the burner and the coffee will start to descend.
- When the process is complete, carefully remove the upper container.
- Pour and enjoy :)
Our recommendations
It is essential to choose the right type of alcohol to use in the siphon burner!
Ethanol, or ethyl alcohol: little or no odor
Denatured alcohol (modified), available at chemists: low or no odor
The use of isopropyl alcohol (propan) is to be avoided due to its unpleasant odor and insufficient thermal yield.
Do not use the Hario Technica coffee maker on a domestic gas stove.
