The Magnifica S Smart FEB 2531.SB bean-to-cup coffee machine offers a sober, minimalist look in trendy silver color with chrome details. Although its size is rather compact, it provides large containers perfectly suited for a couple drinking several beverages per day. You'll find a passive cup warmer to preheat your cups and avoid thermal shock (which develops bitterness).

- Water tank: 1.8 L offering good autonomy
- Grounds container: 14 pucks, to be emptied every 14 coffees approximately
The bean hopper lid is semi-opaque, protecting the coffee beans from light. It's also equipped with a sealing gasket, preventing oxidation of your coffee and preserving its aromas. Additionally, the gasket helps muffle the grinder noise.
The DeLonghi Magnifica Smart 2531.SB espresso grinder settings
This Magnifica FEB 2531.SB espresso grinder offers 3 direct access drinks as well as double espresso. You'll find here the traditional espresso, the coffee(a long coffee without pre-infusion) and the doppio + (intense double espresso with specific pre-infusion). This machine is therefore perfect if you're a fan of short and intense drinks. A ground coffee chute is also available to use pre-ground coffee (for decaf for example).
Customizing your drinks is very easy thanks to its 13-position steel grinder (grind fineness). You'll also have the choice between 5 coffee intensity levels via the front dial (amount of ground coffee) and 10 programmable length positions. The brewing temperature is adjustable on 3 levels: low, medium or high. Finally, you can make 2 coffees in one brew, which is rather rare on machines at this price.
The Magnifica Smart is equipped with a powerful steam wand with a variable system that allows you to easily achieve perfect milk foam. The ring allows you to choose whether you want to make hot milk or milk foam.

First of all thanks to its quality extraction and this is the primary criterion for a coffee machine. Its espresso is intense, creamy and perfectly balanced. Only small drawback, this machine uses slightly too much coffee (11 g at maximum when a barista will use only 10 g maximum).
Its steam wand is also a real success, you'll get fine, creamy and persistent foam.
Finally, it's the one of the quietest machines in this price range. Not only is its grinder very fast, but the grinding noise is also well muffled.
Maintaining the Magnifica Smart FEB 2531.SB coffee machine
Maintenance is just as important as finding the right coffee for your machine. Over time, the extraction quality can degrade; the problem probably lies in the maintenance. Here are the key steps to maintain your DeLonghi bean-to-cup coffee machine:
- Filtration: the filter cartridge will reduce the limescale particles present in tap water and also purify the taste of the water so as not to alter the aromas of your coffee.
- Descaling: your machine is equipped with an automatic system that prompts you to perform a descaling cycle to prevent it from scaling up (mainly in the heating system and the water spouts).One dose of descaling agent supplied with the machine.
- Milk cleaning: this machine has a steam wand that must be cleaned after each use with a suitable milk cleaner to prevent the proliferation of bacteria.
- Tray cleaning: the containers (grounds container and waste-water tray) can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

This model is an improved version of the legendary De’Longhi Magnifica S 22.140B. Several elements have been optimized on this version, notably thesteam wand, which is more powerful and of better quality. The machine ismore modernthan the classic 22.140.B.
It delivers anexcellent in-cup result and optimal features. The only downside?: at maximum strength, it still uses too many beans. But since the result is very good, you almost don’t want to change a thing?!
In this price range, it is thequietest, a non-negligible criterion.
