Bean-to-cup coffee machine with stylish design
The Magnifica S Smart FEB 2533.B offers a sober, minimalist look in black with silver and chrome details. Although its size is rather compact, it offers large containers perfectly suited for a couple consuming several drinks per day. You will find a passive cup warmer to preheat your cups and avoid thermal shock (which develops bitterness).
- Bean hopper: 250 g, equivalent to one bag of coffee
- Water tank: 1.8 L offering good autonomy
- Grounds container: 14 pucks, to be emptied approximately every 14 coffees
The bean hopper lid is semi-opaque, protecting the coffee beans from light. It is also equipped with a sealing gasket, preventing oxidation of your coffee and preserving its aromas. Additionally, the gasket helps muffle the grinder noise.
DeLonghi FEB 2533.B coffee machine settings
This Magnifica Smart FEB 2533.B bean-to-cup coffee machine offers 3 drinks with direct access as well as double espresso. You will find here the traditional espresso, the coffee (a long coffee without pre-infusion) and the long coffee (extracted at low pressure like filter coffee). This machine is therefore perfect if you are lovers of long drinks, especially for breakfast coffee. A ground coffee bypass is also available to use pre-ground coffee (for a decaf for example).
Customization of your drinks is very easy thanks to its 13-position steel grinder (grind fineness). You will also have the choice between 5 coffee strength levels via the front dial (ground coffee amount) and 10 programmable length positions. The brewing temperature is adjustable on 3 levels: low, medium, or high. Finally, you can make 2 coffees in one brewing, which is rather rare on machines at this price.
The Magnifica Smart is equipped with ahigh-performance steam wand with a variator system that allows you to easily succeed with your milk foam. The ring allows you to choose whether you want to make hot milk or milk foam.

This coffee machine is the one that achieved the best score, for various reasons. It is one of the best value for money.
First of all thanks to its quality extraction and this is the primary criterion for a coffee machine. Its espresso is intense, creamy and perfectly balanced. Only small downside, this machine uses slightly too much coffee (11 g at the highest setting when a Barista will only use 10 g maximum).
Its steam wand is also a real success, you will get a fine, creamy and persistent foam.
Finally, it is one of the quietest machines in this price range. Not only is its grinder very fast but the grinding noise is also well muffled.
Maintenance of the Magnifica Smart FEB 2533.B coffee machine
Maintenance is just as important as finding the right coffee for your machine. Over time, extraction quality can degrade, the problem probably comes from maintenance. Here are the important steps to maintain your DeLonghi bean-to-cup coffee machine:
Filtration : the filter cartridge will reduce the limescale particles present in tap water but also purify the taste of the water so as not to alter the aromas of your coffee.
Descaling : your machine is equipped with an automatic system asking you to perform descaling to prevent it from scaling up (mainly at the heating system and discharge nozzles). One dose of descaler provided with the machine.
Milk cleaning : this machine has a steam wand that must be maintained after each use with a suitable milk cleaner to prevent bacteria proliferation.
Cleaning the trays : the containers (grounds container and waste water tray) can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

This model is an improved version of the legendary De'Longhi Magnifica S 22.140B. Several elements have been optimized on this version, notably the steam wand which is more powerful and better quality. The machine is more modern than the classic 22.140.B.
It offers a modest cup result and a slightly slow extraction. The only downside: with intensity at maximum, it continues to consume too many beans. But since the result is very good, we almost don't want to change anything?!
In this price range, it is the quietest, a criterion not to be overlooked.
