The EP2331/10 is a compact bean-to-cup machine with awater reservoir that fits into the side of the machine, which saves space. Its black color and silver details give it an elegance that suits all kitchens. The supplied containers remainquite large, so they don’t need to be refilled often.
Philips has worked on the lid of the bean hopper of itsSilent Brew range: now theseal is much thicker and refined. Grinding your coffee beans will therefore take place undersound shielding to guarantee you a most successful and satisfying coffee-making experience.
This sound comfort iscertified by Quiet Mark, and also by BaristaDiscount since we recorded only52 decibels on average when preparing an espresso.
In addition to this benefit, the coffee bean hopper lid is dark and opaque to protect your beans from oxidation and light rays forbetter preservation.
Customizing your drink is very simple on the Philips Series 2300. You can prepare a delicious drink by selecting it onthe modern touchscreen of the machine. Drinks are represented bycolor icons, making them easy to identify.
And there will be something for everyone thanks to the 4 drinks offered by the EP2331/10:classic espresso, black coffee, and cappuccino. Hot water is also available, which will delight tea and infusion lovers. In addition, the machine has aground coffee chute which is ideal for a small decaf in the evening, for example.
The100% ceramic grinder of this coffee maker is adjustable over 12 positions, allowing you to fine-tune or coarsen the grind depending on the cup result you want. A fine grind will bring more acidity, a coarse grind will highlight the bitterness of the coffee. Depending on the coffee you use, you can thusplay with its bitterness/acidity and adapt it to your taste. As a reminder, the finer the grind, the slower the flow and your coffee will absorb the aromas.
My Coffee Choice: on this machine, you canchoose the strength and length of your coffees on three different positions. The same goes for the milk foam when making cappuccinos.

And that's a very good point for this bean-to-cup coffee machine: Philips has made some changes, especially to theextraction temperature. Now, thebalance between acidity and bitternessof the coffee that comes out in the cup is very good. Previously, the coffee had a smoky aftertaste because the temperature was far too hot. Verynice improvement from the brand !
These changes are directly noticeable in the cup: you get a coffee with athick crema,persistent andhazelnut color.

What we think:
Philips is launching a brand-new range of bean-to-cup espresso machines this year, equipped with SilentBrew technology. It is true that they are quiet, and moreover, you can make a cappuccino or dispense hot water for an infusion or tea. Its LatteGo carafe is very easy (not to say the simplest!) to clean, but the foam is very "airy" and lacks creaminess for my taste.
It is simple to use and very intuitive: you select the drink, the strength, the cup size, and you get your coffee. Coffee enthusiasts will regret the lack of information (quantity in ml, temperature for example).
The EP2331/10 offers you the most well-known and popular drinks, but the choice is quickly limited. It therefore remains suitable for a couple who drink coffee daily but prefer espressos.
For more pleasure and options, I advise you to turn to a Philips Series 3000 machine. You will find a similar design to this one, still with one of the quietest grinds, but with more drink choices, including cold drinks!
