A compact and simple grinder for various brewing methods.
For this Virtuoso+ coffee grinder, Baratza chose high-quality 40 mm conical burrs made in Europe by the brand Etzinger.
These M2 steel burrs allow for uniform coffee grinding.
The Virtuoso+ is a versatile grinder, designed for various brewing methods, from espresso (preferably with pressurized filters) to French press.
It features a unique speed control, which keeps the burrs rotating at 550 rpm. This slow speed helps reduce heat (to avoid burning the coffee), noise, and static electricity generation.
The integration of a front-facing digital timer allows you to set the dosing time to 0.1 second.
It can go up to a 40-second dosing time, which is more than sufficient when considering the productivity of 1.5 g/sec to 2.4 g/sec !
With its compact size, the Virtuoso+ will quickly find its place on your countertop, next to your coffee maker.

To grind with precision, the Baratza Virtuoso+ grinder features stepped grind adjustment, but its precision approaches that of stepless settings. With 40 adjustment steps ranging from 200 to 1200 microns, it’s easy to find the perfect grind size for your brewing method.
The grinding time is easily adjusted with a single front button, and the digital display counts down the seconds.
The Virtuoso+ allows you to grind a single dose of coffee, directly into the ground coffee container.
An LED light illuminates the container so you can keep an eye on the grind being dispensed.
This Baratza Virtuoso+ grinder offers 2 different operating modes: the On/Off button and the pulse button.
With the On/Off button, simply set the button to the chosen function to start or stop grinding.
The "pulse" button is located on the front: the grinder will run as long as you press the button and will stop grinding when you release it.
Maintenance is very simpleentretien est très simple: the burrs can be easily removed without needing any special tools.
The Baratza Virtuoso+ grinder comes with a hopper for 225g of whole beans, a container for 140g of ground coffee, and a cleaning brush.

- There is no option to hold a portafilter: for espresso, you’ll need to grind into the container, then transfer with a spoon.
The expert’s opinion
The Baratza Virtuoso+ is a good coffee grinder and the price-performance ratio is there, with part of the body in steel to muffle the noise (compared to ABS)..
The fact that the grinder does not exceed 550 RPM is a more than positive point because the grind does not heat up, so the coffee does not lose its organoleptic qualities. The Virtuoso+ is more suitable for filter and gentle methods, especially if you use single-origin specialty coffee.
For me, the real strength of this grinder is its versatility and the consistency of the grind, its 40 adjustment steps allow for real precision. However, it may not be sharp enough for semi-professional espresso machines.
